Pregnancy and Fertility.

Fertility problems are becoming increasingly common. Factors would include stress in all its forms,  poor movement of cranial bones, assymetry of pelvis and sacrum and spinal problems. These problems are all treatable osteopathically. Stress both mental and emotional can be huge in a couple trying to conceive. Cranial osteopathy is fantastic at calming all the bodies nervous systems, allowing the body out of its 'fight or flight' state and re-establishing normal blood flow to the reproductive organs.  Hormonal issues can be balanced by working cranially on the hypothalamus and pituity glands and also the ovaries and uterus via the sacrum. Menstrual abnormalities can sometimes be a sign of this and are also easily corrected. Ovaries may also contain shock, which can be removed with Cranial Osteopathy.
Advice may also be given regarding lifestyle and exposure to toxicity. This can pay a significant role in infertility and people can often be unaware of what is actually toxic. Osteopathy's holistic approach has made the difference for many couples, without the need for expensive and uncomfortable IVF treatments, and even for some whose IVF has been repeatedly unsuccessful.

Pregnancy.

Preparation for Birth

By balancing and freeing up the pelvis and sacrum, the size of the birth canal can actually be increased, leading to an easier birth for both mother and baby. Muscles of the pelvic floor are relaxed and balanced to aid this too. Induction can usually be avoided too with Osteopathic treatment, which among other things optimizes hormone regulation. This prevents the cascade of intervention often associated with induction. Osteopathy encourages optimum structure and function of the pregnant mother's body to ensure the gentlest and most natural birth for both herself and her baby.

Head Aches/Migraines

Head aches are more common in pregnancy, usually stemming from altered posture or hormone imbalance. They can almost always be resolved with Osteopathy

Low Back Pain and Sciatica

Low back pain in pregnancy is common often resulting from the spine struggling to adapt to it's new posture as well as the added weight of the baby. The hips and pelvis can easily get out of line due to increased relaxin hormone in the body loosening the bodies ligaments. This can also put extra strain on the back or cause hip pain. All are usually easily treated and managed with Osteopathy.

Morning Sickness

A common symptom which usually passes, but which can be helped by Cranial Osteopathy which aids hormone balance.

Rib Pain and Breathing Difficulties

Rib pain and shortness of breath are common complaints during pregnancy. This is due to lack of space under the ribs as the baby gets bigger and can be easily treated by releasing the chest, ribs lungs and diaphragm.

Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction

SPD or PSD is most commonly felt as pain over the pubic bone. It is usually caused by misalignment of the pelvis and increased stretch in the ligaments due to hormone changes. Pregnant mothers report a huge improvement to discomfort after treatment.  Left untreated it can result in serious pain and disability, as well as reducing the size of the birth canal.

Breech and Transverse Babies

By increasing space for the baby, they are able to turn more easily and usually regain their correct position.

Emotions and Stress

It can be a time of great change emotionally. It can also be physically tiring and dificult to juggle jobs or other children with the demands of pregnancy. Osteopathy balances hormones, releases emotional stress, aids sleep and relaxation and boosts energy.
